In June 2020, our foundation (Sasakawa Sports Foundation) conducted the “National Survey on the Effects of COVID-19 on Sports and Physical Activities” to men and women between the age of 18 and 79 living in Japan, for the purpose of grasping the change in participation of sports and physical activities due to the spread of COVID-19.
As similar surveys are conducted in some overseas countries, we tried to find out the similarities and the differences among England, the Netherlands and Japan through three surveys: “Active Lives Adult Survey Coronavirus Report” conducted by Sport England, “Sportdeelname Index” by Nederlands Olympisch Comité*Nederlandse Sport Federatie(NOC*NSF), and ours. Here is the documented result of the comparative analysis. (The result of comparative analysis just shows the tendencies since a precise comparison is impossible because of the differences in survey method, sample characteristics and the number of samples among the surveys.)
